Grandfather slaughtered in bloodbath
The Nirvana community has been bathed in blood following a gruesome murder in which Mr Omar Cassim Dada (Umie Boyne) was hacked to death with an axe late on Monday night and his granddaughter, Ms Nazrana Cassim (21), repeatedly stabbed in the head in an attempt to kill her.
An employee of the deceased has been arrested and is expected to appear in court shortly.
Cassim and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Dada, were at home when the employee pounced on the unsuspecting family in what appears to be a premeditated attack. It was later discovered that weapons had been placed at various points in the house.
Polokwane police spokesperson Lesiba Ramoshaba confirmed the event and said that a suspect has been arrested on counts of murder and attempted murder. He was unable to provide Polokwane Observer with any further information.
During the scuffle Cassim managed to break free, pushed the panic button and phoned her mother.
Mr Dada apparently fired a shot at the perpetrator, who then rushed to Ms Dada in another room, asking her to call an ambulance as "Pappa had shot me".
She was unaware of the fact that the perpetrator had just slain her husband.
According to the family their security company was alerted more than once by more than one person, but they were last to arrive on the scene. Crime Prevention Forum members were first on the scene, followed by the SA Police read more...
